Anhua town in Zhuji, a county-level city in Shaoxing, Zhejiang province, has developed a thriving nighttime economy.
Located in southwestern part of Zhuji, Anhua is close to Yiwu, the "world market" of small commodities in Zhejiang. The town used to solely rely on its industrial economy and developed at a slow pace.
In recent years, the town has made strong efforts to attract investment and build industrial parks, which offer fertile soil for the growth of the nighttime economy.
"Over the past few years, we have renovated our street environment and built many commercial complexes, cinemas, and gyms," said Guo Jiandong, Party secretary of Anhua town, adding that the town held a number of festivals and sports events at night.
Anhua is now home to more than 100 restaurants and eateries. Famous for its prosperous night market, many residents from nearby areas flood to the town at night to enjoy delicacies and have fun.
According to statistics released by the local authorities, more than 10,000 visits to the town are recorded every day. Anhua's growing nighttime economy has created nearly 2,000 jobs and helped increase the average income of local residents.
