With Typhoon In-Fa approaching China's east coast, Shaoxing in Zhejiang province activated an orange alert on July 23.

China has a four-tier color-coded weather warning system, with red representing the most severe warning, followed by orange, yellow and blue.

At 5 am on July 23, the eye of the typhoon was 660 kilometers southeast of Wenling, Zhejiang province, with a 42-meter per second wind speed, said the local meteorological center. 

The typhoon is moving 5 to 10 kilometers per hour towards Zhejiang province and is getting stronger, it said.

The center predicted that the typhoon will make landfall on the coastline between north Zhejiang and north Fujian provinces on Sunday.

From July 24 and 26, there will be strong winds and heavy rainstorms in the city, with precipitation accumulated to range from 150 to 350 millimeters. Residents are warned to avoid outings and most outdoor entertainment facilities will be closed.

The local government has assembled over 150 emergency teams, with about 1,300 members. Their equipment includes 1,696 pumps, 1,574 generators, and 298 rescue boats.

A total of 1,761 refuge points are in place and can take in over 145,200 people.
