A set of 100 Longquan celadon dinnerware sets was recently selected as banquet porcelain for the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, marking a proud moment for the traditional Chinese craft.

Crafted by Longquan-based Oujiang Celadon Co, the 46-piece Harmony in Bamboo set features the iconic fenqing glaze (light greenish-blue glaze) and bamboo motifs — symbols of resilience, humility, and harmony in Chinese culture. Designed over nine months with repeated refinements, the set reflects the highest standards of both artistry and functionality in modern ceramics.

Longquan celadon, a UNESCO-listed intangible cultural heritage item, has graced major international events such as the G20 Hangzhou Summit and APEC Beijing. Its inclusion in national banquets represents a significant recognition of both craftsmanship and cultural value.

According to the People's Great Hall officials, the celadons' jade-like luster and refined oriental aesthetic were key reasons for its selection. Local officials see this as a major boost to Longquan's high-end ceramic brand and a stepping stone to greater global visibility.
