Brand value of Suichang Longgu Tea hits 1.82b
Suichang Longgu Tea from Suichang county, Lishui, Zhejiang province was listed in the 2024 China Tea Regional Public Brand Value Evaluation Report, with a brand value of 1.82 billion yuan ($250.42 million).
Suichang, known as the "hometown of Chinese tea culture", boasts a long history of tea cultivation which can be traced back to the Sui and Tang dynasties (581-907).
During the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty (1573-1620), the well-known literary and drama writer Tang Xianzu was appointed as the county magistrate of Suichang. In his works, he frequently described Suichang's tea, referring to it as Longgu tea.
At present, the total tea plantation area in the county has reached 139,200 mu (9,280 hectares), ranking among the top in the province. Since the beginning of this year, the output of spring tea has hit 9,548 metric tons, with a total value of 1.045 billion yuan.
