Qingyuan edible mushrooms move into digital 'future farm'
On June 2, the first batch of Grifola frondosa completed their growth at the digital "future farm" in Huangtian town, Qingyuan county, Lishui, Zhejiang province.
Grifola frondosa, commonly known as maitake mushrooms or Huishuhua, has been cultivated by locals for over a decade. After being transferred to the digital farm, the pioneering batch of mushrooms experienced a shortened growth cycle while maintaining high quality.
This advancement exemplifies the rapid transformation of the edible mushroom industry in Qingyuan.
Compared to traditional cultivation methods, the factory cultivation approach makes year-round production possible, using digital technology to control the growing environment and connect to sales platforms, according to Zhejiang Dingqing Biotechnology Co, which manages the mushroom industrial park in Huangtian town.
The digitized production model is anticipated to significantly boost the annual production of maitake mushrooms in the town, with the expected output value reaching 9 million yuan ($1.24 million) annually.
Additionally, an online platform called "Xiangguyun" has further enhanced the industry's digital transformation, offering services such as online consultations with experts, mushroom strain purchases, online trading, and applications for pesticide residue testing.
With over 2,000 registered users benefiting from its services, the platform has become a vital tool in empowering mushroom growers with digital capabilities, revolutionizing the traditional mushroom industry in Qingyuan.
