Small bamboo props up big industry
Norman Willemsen, CEO of Moso International Company from the Netherlands, expressed confidence in future cooperation during a recent visit to the Zhejiang Jiahe Bamboo Technology Company, affirming, "The bamboo industry in Suichang has built a solid foundation and is getting better and better in recent years."
Moso, a leader in sustainable bamboo products, has pioneered various applications in hotels, sports arenas, museums, and garages. Meanwhile, Jiahe, established in Suichang county, Lishui, Zhejiang province in 2016, specializes in strand bamboo flooring, ranking at the forefront of domestic markets.
Since their collaboration in 2011, both companies have been committed to partnering in bamboo building materials, furniture, daily necessities, and outdoor flooring, helping Suichang's bamboo industry to make significant strides in foreign markets.
The outdoor flooring products made from Suichang's moso bamboo species are widely favored in overseas markets for their anti-corrosion and high-temperature resistance.
Supported by Moso's resources, Jiahe has expanded its international presence, achieving nearly one billion yuan ($138.04 million) in foreign trade sales, with exports to 103 countries. The combined sales of both parties are expected to exceed 200 million yuan this year.
Jiahe has also made significant strides in the innovation of its products, including innovating carbonizing technology to improve mechanical properties and weather resistance while maintaining the natural properties of bamboo materials.
"I have been engaged in the bamboo industry since 1976. Almost every 10 years sees a cycle of updates," said He Pincai, chairman of Jiahe. "I believe that with Moso's support, we can capture a broader space for development."
