Intelligent factory boosts lingzhi output

Recently, the Zhejiang Shuangyi Guye Company in Longquan, Lishui, Zhejiang province has been bustling with activity for the production of lingzhi (Ganoderma lucidum) — a medicinal fungus.

The company is a leading agricultural enterprise specializing in the production and processing of edible and medicinal fungi. This year marks the sixth year of its factory production of lingzhi, which remains a rare production method nationwide.

This method employs rotating three-dimensional shelves and environmental control equipment to simulate optimal growth conditions for the fungus. It achieves soil-free cultivation, temperature and humidity control, and consistent production, overturning traditional soil-covering methods.

For many years, the forest and land resources required for continuous cultivation and planting of Ganoderma lucidum have remained the main factor affecting its planting scale. "Through factory production, the land utilization rate has increased by more than eight times," explained Ye Shengyi, the company's technical director.

Ye added, "It can produce 60 metric tons of spore powder per hectare, which is six times that under the greenhouse cultivation. The production cycle has been reduced from 70 days to 25 days, and the output per unit area has grown by eight times."

Furthermore, the factory production method uses crushed wood chips instead of large sections of wood as a substrate, effectively alleviating the scarcity of forest resources. It is also free from pesticide residues and heavy metal pollution.

As the technology continues to improve, the survival rate has risen from around 85 percent to the current 99.9 percent.
