The 2024 New Year Goods Fair and Village Spring Festival Gala of Longnan township took place within the West Street historical and cultural block in Longquan, Lishui, Zhejiang province, on Feb 3.

Longnan merchants came out in force, displaying their best goods to attract consumers, including mushrooms, fungi, special local fruits, and other exquisite New Year merchandise.

"Our village has a lot of local specialties that were previously unknown to others," said Zhang Genhua, deputy director of the village committee of Jianlong village in Longnan. "This event provides us with an opportunity to showcase our products, driving the villagers to increase income."

What appealed to tourists most was the delicious food at the fair. In addition to local specialties and New Year goods, visitors feasted on delicacies such as Longnan sheet jelly, salted tofu, and xiaolongbao (steamed meat buns).

The village Spring Festival gala began in the evening amid a bustle of gongs and drums. Villagers from 15 administrative villages in Longnan township directed, acted and performed in captivating dances, songs, sketches, and Yueju Opera productions.

Attendees were also treated to dragon and lion dances. Accompanied by beating drums, the dragon and lion danced in the air, changing shapes and moving gracefully about. Such a mesmerizing performance immediately captured the attention of residents and tourists, who raised their mobile phones to record this spectacular moment.
