The first all-electric six-vehicle and passenger ferry in Zhejiang province, ZheJingDian 0001, was put into operation at the Jintouhui Ferry Terminal in Jingning She autonomous county, Lishui, Zhejiang province, on Jan 26.
Twenty meters long and 8.4 meters wide, the ferry is designed to carry 40 passengers and six sedans. It is powered by two sets of lithium iron phosphate batteries with a total battery capacity of about 670 kilowatt-hours, equivalent to that of more than 28 electric cars, enabling it to continuously sail at a speed of 15 kilometers per hour for about 6 hours.
Distinguished from traditional ferries reliant on conventional power sources, this ferry operates solely on battery power. As a result, it has the potential to replace approximately 25 metric tons of fuel annually, leading to a reduction of over 68 tons of carbon dioxide emissions and making it a truly green vessel with zero pollution and zero emissions.
Furthermore, the battery system features a temperature sensor for each battery cell, realizing temperature monitoring and high-temperature alarms and ensuring safety and reliability.
The operation of the ferry will provide a low-carbon ferry experience with minimal noise for 2,131 residents of three administrative villages in Jingning, creating a beautiful sight during the 2024 Spring Festival travel rush.
