Lishui Technician College set to shape future workforce
Zhejiang sanctioned the establishment of Lishui Technician College on Dec 22, with a strategic focus on nurturing skilled professionals.
The college, located in Lishui Economic and Technological Development Zone, marks a pivotal leap towards becoming a first-class technician college after a three-year planning and construction phase.
Boasting a total investment of 600 million yuan ($85.01 million) and sprawling across 14.93 hectares, or 224 mu, the college is designed to meet the pressing demand for skilled workers in Lishui's thriving industries.
Currently hosting over 4,000 students, it offers a diverse range of programs, aligning closely with the region's five major ecological industry clusters.
As the first technician college established from scratch nationwide, Lishui Technician College aims to be socially impactful and student-oriented. College managers express their commitment to leveraging local resources for cultivating skilled professionals, addressing the talent shortage crucial for regional industrial development.
The move comes as part of the broader educational initiatives undertaken by the Lishui's Economic and Technological Development Zone, which has invested 3 billion yuan since 2019 to establish 16 schools, including Lishui Technician College.
Looking ahead, the focus will be on integrating industry needs, promoting high-quality employment, and implementing an innovative engineering and technology education model. Lishui Technician College is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future workforce and contributing to the city's development as a dynamic intersection for skilled professionals.
