Wukeng Town, nestled in the mountainous region of Qingtian county – in Lishui in East China's Zhejiang province – played host to a vibrant Mountain Music Festival on Nov 18, drawing nearly a thousand visitors.
Themed on a "healthy and beautiful Wukeng", the event featured a wide range of activities, including mountain climbing, art performances and food courts.
The opening ceremony witnessed the official appointment of five tourism ambassadors and the launch of the town's Cloud Accommodation Alliance.
This year's festival marked a notable change as foreign participants were welcomed for the first time to ascend the local Qima Ridge, in a mountain climbing competition designed to embrace the stunning scenery.
"What impressed me the most was the abundant tree coverage and throughout the climb the local people were always willing to help me with photos – they were incredibly friendly," said one foreign tourist.
An array of global cuisines, including sausages, burgers, toast, potatoes, and deep-fried dough sticks, took center stage at the event.
As night fell, the atmosphere ramped up with performances in front of a rice field of great music, featuring dazzling lights.
"This festival exceeded my expectations, making the two-hour journey worthwhile," said Xu Jieqi, one of the visitors.
Moving forwards, Wukeng is aiming to attract more young people and boost cultural tourism through this kind of events. This year marked the third consecutive year of the Mountain Music Festival.
