Farmhouse bed and breakfasts, or B&Bs were in high demand during the recent Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday – running from Sept 29 to Oct 6 – in Yunhe county, Lishui city, in East China's Zhejiang province.

According to statistics, the county's farmhouse B&Bs received 54,800 tourists and earned 6.58 million yuan ($905,671) in revenue during the period.

One establishment called Yungu Shanfang – located in Kenggen village in Chongtou town – has 12 rooms and comes equipped with a coffee shop, a rural study and other support areas. It was fully booked from Sept 29 to Oct 4.

Gu Xiaohang, the owner of the B&B, said that they also launched free activities such as handmade soap making to attract more tourists during the holidays. The tourists experienced the tranquility and beauty of life in the green mountains and rivers and enjoyed the slow pace of life away from the urban hustle and bustle.

Elsewhere, Jiangnan Siyu is located in Changting village in Shitang town. "Our B&B was fully booked from Sept 30 to Oct 5," said Qian Jie, the owner. During the holiday, Changting village also held activities such as bonfire parties to attract tourists and boost the social fun.

In recent years, Yunhe has been vigorously developing its B&B brands, taking advantage of its unique resources and culture. At present, Yunhe has a total of 319 farmhouse B&Bs, with 2,338 rooms and about 20,000 dining seats. There are more than 3,000 employees in the industry.
