The Nayun Sky City Leisure Resort – located in the Jingning She autonomous county of Lishui city, in East China's Zhejiang province – is built on the site of an abandoned Baoshan iron mine.

It's been transformed over the past few years through ecological and environmental restoration and tourism development, bringing new life to the area.

The resort features a variety of chic buildings, including white-colored guest rooms and a 150-meter-long swimming pool, offering guests breathtaking views of the cliffs.

It also highlights the She people's culture and the mining history of the area, with attractions such as a mine cave music hall and a museum. It's understood that the resort has welcomed more than 300,000 visitors, significantly contributing to the development of local tourism.

In doing so, Jingning county has adopted a development-oriented governance model, attracting private investment to achieve ecological and environmental restoration and converting mining wasteland into tourist resources.

What's more, the project has also created more than 500 job opportunities for the locals, assisting young people in finding employment close to home.

Moving forwards, plans are for the county to explore the mortgage financing reform – called natural ecological value plus real estate – so as to address the financing challenges of green development.

The ultimate goal is to support the pursuit of common prosperity in the mountainous and ethnic regions, turning green mountains and clean water into gold.
