Two young women from Taishan village, a remote mountain village – in Lishui city in East China's Zhejiang province – have turned their parents' old farmhouse into a popular camping destination for city slickers.
Fu Huiya, 34 and her niece Fu Liuting, 25, both grew up in Taishan, which is located at an altitude of 840 meters and surrounded by lush greenery and fresh air. They left the village for work and study in their early years.
In 2020, most of the villagers moved out of the mountain as part of a village-wide relocation project.
But Fu Huiya saw the potential of developing a camping concern in her childhood playground and decided to come back and transform her dad and mom's traditional farmhouse into a modern camping site.
She used social media to attract customers and achieved impressive results. The work paid off and she earned revenue of nearly 50,000 yuan ($6,953) in just three months. At its peak, she had to take bookings two weeks in advance.

Fu Liuting was inspired by her aunt's success and also returned to Taishan village to start another camping base.
The two young women entrepreneurs have not only revived their hometown through their innovative businesses, but also inspired other young people to turn their attention to rural development and contribute to their homeland.
Moving forwards, plans are for the aunty and her niece to upgrade their camping facilities and offer seasonal services. They hope that more tourists will visit and love Taishan village as they do.
