Beyond the Games| Lishui city stages cultural shows to greet Asian Games

The charming city of Lishui – located in East China's Zhejiang province – has launched a campaign to stage various cultural shows, to greet the eagerly anticipated upcoming Hangzhou Asian Games.
The 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 will be held in Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang, from Sept 23 to Oct 8.
The campaign aims to build a public platform for cultural participation and displays and to create a festive atmosphere for the sports event. It also seeks to promote the development of Lishui as a youth-oriented place.
From July to October, more than 1,500 cultural activities will be held in the urban and rural areas of Lishui – covering vocal, instrumental, opera and dance performances, as well as fashion, calligraphy and other forms of art.
The activities will be held in outdoor stages that are close to the public, such as historical sites, scenic spots, business districts and village entrances.
According to officials, the performers will not be professional artists, but ordinary people who love culture and sports. They're expected to express their enthusiasm and expectations for the Asian Games through their performances.
More than 100,000 volunteers will participate in the cultural activities, which will also be broadcast online and on TV to reach a wider audience.
