Lishui ranks among top cities for IP protection, development

The city of Lishui, located in East China's Zhejiang province, continues to make significant achievements in intellectual property, or IP protection and development.

Its latest performance appraisal in the field ranked it 14th among 159 sub-provincial and prefecture-level cities in China last year.

Moreover, Lishui has promoted the comprehensive protection of IP rights in various fields, achieving a series of breakthroughs in innovation, protection and utilization.

In 2022, Lishui added 180 national high-tech enterprises and registered more than 90,000 trademarks. It's estimated that the city has 4.3 high-value invention patents per 10,000 people, ranking it first in its province in terms of its growth rate.

Last year, Lishui also improved its mechanisms and systems, enhanced its law enforcement quality and efficiency and strengthened its judicial protection to safeguard IP rights.

At the same time, Lishui actively promoted its IP transformation and utilization to boost its economic development and rural vitalization.

The city achieved more than 4.5 billion yuan ($651.26 million) in IP pledge financing in 2022, an increase of 350 percent year-on-year.

In particular, its move to use the Qingyuan Mushroom geographical indication to promote rural vitalization garnered recognition. This was selected in the list of key geographical indication applications promotions projects compiled by the China National Intellectual Property Administration.
