Zhejiang Beisite Softening Board Co Ltd, a supplier to China's pencil industry – with its operations based in Qingyuan county, Lishui city, in East China's Zhejiang province – has ramped up its production lines to full capacity after the company recently received a bumper order worth 100 million yuan ($14.5 million).

The group mainly produces pencils and markers. With 12 workshops and more than 100 production lines, it produces over 3 million pencils a day on average. The order has boosted the company's confidence in its recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

"This year our annual revenue is expected to exceed 270 million yuan and our production value is expected to exceed 300 million yuan," said Wu Mingyu, head of the company.

The company expanded its production to include marker lines in 2022 and achieved a year-on-year increase of 54.7 percent in the value of annual production. It also built a 480-square-meter research and development building to support its development.

The pencil industry in Qingyuan has a history spanning more than 40 years. It has developed a complete industry supply chain with an annual production of more than 7 billion pencils, accounting for 30 percent of the country's total output.

To optimize the business environment and enhance the level of support for enterprises in the pencil industry, Qingyuan has undertaken various measures, including opening special bus lines for employees to improve their commuting.

It has organized jobs fairs to help enterprises recruit people and has sent out staff to provide enterprises with targeted policy guidance and services.
