A company based in Lishui city in East China was one of those recognized as future factories by Zhejiang province's economy and information technology department recently.

The department released the 2022 second list of provincial future factories. Zhejiang Santian A/C Compressor Co Ltd, a resident company in Longquan city – a county-level city administered by Lishui city – was on the list.

The term future factory refers to a modern plant that employs digital technologies to achieve digital design, intelligent production, intelligent management, collaborative manufacturing, green manufacturing and safe control, among other things.

Zhejiang Santian A/C Compressor – as the first provincial future factory in Lishui – is widely said to have led the transformation and upgrading of the high-end manufacturing industry in the city.

The company mainly designs, makes and sells automotive air conditioning compressors and new energy heat pump systems. It has a strong R&D team that covers engineering, mechanics, materials science, computer science and other areas.

The future factory of the company centers on the manufacturing of automobile air conditioning compressors, while building a platform for industrial production and supply chain collaboration.

Zhejiang is understood to have rolled out plans to develop future factories in its region. The province plans to add a list of future factories every year, to lead the transformation and upgrading of the region's manufacturing industry.
