The Huiwen Middle School – located in Songyang county, Lishui city in East China's Zhejiang province – recently went viral on social media platforms because of a "desk dance" that has been invented there.
Ye Ying, a PE teacher at the school, came up with it last spring during the rainy season. Seeing that her students couldn't go outside for PE classes, she thought about how to get them to move in the classroom.
As she used to learn aerobics and liked listening to pop, she thought of combining the music with gesture dance so that the kids could do an exercise while sitting in their seats.
The series of movements designed by Ye can exercise the head, neck, waist and hands at the same time in just a few minutes. She says this not only exercises the body, but is also of great help to release pressure.
Ye has now choreographed a dozen or so desk dances. They've all been well-received by the students and netizens.
