Since the opening of its first plant in 2012, Schott's site in Jinyun county – administered by Lishui city in East China's Zhejiang province – has become an important base for the production of pharmaceutical glass tubing and packaging in China.
Schott AG is a German specialty glass manufacturer and a pharmaceuticals packaging supplier.
In order to support the COVID-19 booster shots and facilitate the country's Healthy China 2030 Initiative, Schott invested an additional 70 million euros ($79.26 million) to expand the Jinyun tubing plant's capacity after the initial investment of 60 million euros.
The Jinyun plant adopts the Schott original perfeXion® processing technology, which provides highly accurate monitoring of glass tubing, not just for random samples, but for every single tube.
This cutting-edge technology enables the plant to mass produce high-quality glassware resulting in less defects, superior cosmetic quality, and improved performance. This helps protect the safety of vaccines and drugs.
And with a series of localization initiatives, Schott is able to provide a more stable and rapid supply of high-quality 5.0 neutral borosilicate glass tubes and a more convenient service response to most of the approved COVID-19 vaccine projects in China.
