The Ministry of Commerce recently announced a list of comprehensive demonstration counties for rural e-commerce in 2021 and Qingtian county – administered by Lishui city in East China's Zhejiang province – was on the list.
In recent years, leveraging its local industrial characteristics, Qingtian has steadily promoted the modernization of rural product sales and marketing and actively developed its rural e-commerce sector.
As a result, Qingtian is reportedly playing a leading role in building a comprehensive service system for rural e-commerce, introducing industrial products to rural areas and promoting rural products so they enter urban areas – helping to cut poverty and boost local rural revitalization.
Qingtian is currently home to more than 4,900 online stores and has reportedly cultivated a group of representative e-commerce entities. In 2020, its online retail sales reached 7.41 billion yuan ($1.15 billion).
