Loquats in Yunhe county – administered by Lishui city in East China's Zhejiang province – now are ready to be picked and eaten by lovers of the fruit.

Loquats are a small, round fruit that grow in clusters. Their color varies from yellow to red-orange, depending on the variety. Loquat fruit, seeds and leaves contain powerful plant compounds and have been used in traditional medicine for thousands of years.

Loquat trees are common in Yunhe – with the villagers particularly fond of the trees, because they are easy to take care of and the leaves remain green throughout the year. Besides, the loquats growing in Yunhe are juicy and sweet.

In May, when loquats are ripe, you can find sellers on both sides of roads and streets in Yunhe.
