German group Schott shows confidence in Jinyun
The new Schott tubing plant in Jinyun county – located in the city of Lishui in East China's Zhejiang province – recently went into production, according to local officials.
This is the second time that Schott AG, a German manufacturer of specialty glass and supplier of pharmaceuticals packaging, has invested in Jinyun.
With a total investment of 1 billion yuan ($152.89 million) to date, it is the largest wholly foreign-owned project in the county.
Recently, Schott conducted an internal survey of its production plants and sales offices in 34 countries and regions around the world and the facility with the highest employee satisfaction was the one in Jinyun.
Schott executives in Germany may have been surprised by the finding, but those in China were not.
"It is the service here in Jinyun that attracts us," said Hu Mingyue, an employee of Schott Xinkang Pharmaceutical Packaging Co Ltd in Jinyun.
Hit by COVID-19 this year, German experts that were supposed to come to Jinyun to give technical support to the project encountered many twists and turns.
The county held more than 100 meetings to discuss the immigration plans for the boffins and thanks to those efforts, the project went ahead as scheduled.
