Introduction:

Yeosu, in Jeollanam-do province is on Yeosu Peninsula, the southernmost point of the Korean Peninsula.

The city was established on April 1, 1998. With a land area of 497 square kilometers, it has a population of 330,000 people, and governs one town, six districts, 21 sub-districts.

The annual average temperature of the city is 14.6 C, while the mean annual precipitation is 1,648 millimeters.

Yeosu has Yeosu national industrial area and Kuribu local industrial area, and is a coastal industrial city.

It is also an important petrochemical industry base in South Korea. It has a national chemical industrial base, with more than 100 large chemical enterprises and affiliated enterprises, mainly producing fertilizer, purified petroleum and petroleum chemicals, and exports oil, synthetic resin, elastomeric seals and fertilizer to China, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Iran and Bahrain.

Yeosu is famous as a "fishing city", but it also grows rice, wheat, beans, vegetables, flowers and fruits such as apples, pears and peaches.

There are 99 primary and secondary schools, two colleges and one special school in the city.

Yeosu, as a city protected by the sea, has a long history, containing Zhennan House (여수 진남관), a national treasure, and other cultural sites and historical heritages.

It is also a famous tourism city on the south coast, with special natural and cultural landscapes.
