Lishui strives to build Baishanzu national park
The National Forestry and Grassland Administration agreed to integrate Fengyang Mountain and Baishanzu area in Lishui with Qianjiangyuan National Forest Park in Quzhou to form one national park in January this year.
In accordance with the framework of "one national park and two areas" in Zhejiang province, the pilot construction of the national park will be completed in 2020. By then the national park will be officially established.
According to the construction plan, by 2025 the Baishanzu national park will have become a demonstration area for the protection and restoration of mountain ecosystems in the southeast coastal areas of China, a demonstration area for biodiversity display and excellent cultural heritage, a scientific research and natural education base for rare and endangered wildlife, such as the subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forest and the black muntjac, and a model area for the harmonious coexistence of humans and nature in the developed areas of China.
And by 2030, the ecosystem will be healthy and stable, and the comprehensive functions of protection, scientific research, education, exhibition and experience will have been fully carried out. It will be a national park with international standards.
Lishui's Longquan, Qingyuan county and Jingning She autonomous county, which are located in the core areas of Baishanzu national park, have carried out practical plans to better serve the construction of the national park.
Longquan, for instance, is now planning several integrated development projects, mainly involving transport outside the national park, the development of characteristic towns, a community at the park entrance and other infrastructure construction projects, with a total estimated investment of 30 billion yuan ($4.22 billion).
