An AI weather robot named "Xiao Lan" was launched in Lanxi county-level city in Jinhua, Zhejiang province, on March 18.

Developed by the Lanxi meteorological bureau, the robot uses authoritative meteorological data for a range of meteorological services, including weather forecasts, clothing recommendations, and meteorological education.

To access Xiao Lan, users can visit the "Lanxi Meteorology" WeChat official account and engage in dialogue by posing questions like "What should I wear tomorrow?" Within seconds, Xiao Lan responds with tailored clothing advice based on the forecasted temperature.

Ye Yanjun, director of the Lanxi Meteorological Observatory, highlighted that Xiao Lan is powered by domestic large language models like Tongyi Qianwen and DeepSeek, and is able to deliver accurate forecasts and alerts, meteorological knowledge, and disaster prevention guidance.

Moreover, with thinking and reasoning capabilities, it can also offer personalized services and considerate reminders such as "consider adding or removing clothing" in a human-like manner.

In the future, Lanxi aims to further integrate AI into meteorological operations, infusing innovation into the field for enhanced quality and development.
