The factory of Dongyang Modern Fishing Tackle Co has been in a rush of activity recently as fishing lines weave through braiding machines to fulfill orders, while in the cross-border e-commerce office, staff swiftly dispatch products across the globe.
Dongyang Modern Fishing Tackle Co is located in Geshan town, Dongyang county-level city in Jinhua, Zhejiang province. It is one of the pioneering self-owned fishing tackle brands in the town and the only high-tech fishing tackle company in Dongyang.
Around 70 percent of China's fishing lines and nearly 55 percent globally are manufactured in Geshan, with the company being a key exporter to countries like South Korea, Russia, and Brazil.
Embracing the rise of e-commerce, the company ventured into cross-border online sales in 2023, establishing self-operated stores on platforms like Amazon and AliExpress.
Through high-quality product images, detailed descriptions, multilingual customer services, and real-time communication tools, the company has streamlined the purchasing experience for customers worldwide, according to Jin Yijie, head of the company's cross-border e-commerce business.
Nearly 30 types of fishing line products are sold in its online stores, many garnering wide praise from overseas consumers.
"We tailor our offerings based on the consumer profiles of different regions and we often stock products in overseas warehouses in advance based on past sales data to ensure that products can be delivered to customers as soon as possible," said Jin.
This success story mirrors Dongyang's broader push towards cross-border e-commerce development. With a 31 percent year-on-year increase in cross-border e-commerce import and export volume in 2024, the city is fostering the growth of innovative e-commerce models within its traditional industries.
