The International Neighborhood Center of Jimingshan community in Yiwu — a county-level city in Jinhua, Zhejiang province, united locals and 36 international residents from 13 countries on Feb 10 in celebrating the upcoming Lantern Festival.
The celebration commenced with a traditional drumming performance and dragon dance. The enchanting show not only highlighted the traditional Chinese culture but also allowed the expats to experience the festive and lively spirit of traditional Chinese holidays.
At the Lantern Festival fun fair, activities such as tangyuan (glutinous rice balls) making, lantern riddle guessing, flower lantern crafting, and blessings attracted the rapt participation of both local and international residents.
Wang Xiaoxiao, the community's Party secretary, expressed plans to organize more of such events showcasing traditional Chinese culture and to provide a platform for community members, both local and foreign, to come and engage in cultural exchanges.
