During the third session of the 14th Zhejiang Provincial People's Congress, Wang Haizhi from the Jinhua delegation shared insights on advancing the Green Rural Revival Program in the new era and igniting rural vitalization in Zhejiang in an interview on Jan 15.

Wang has been in agriculture for 13 years and now leads the Qiuhai Family Farm in Wucheng district in Jinhua. He emphasized three key points in rural vitalization: new business forms, new productive factors, and "new farmers" — both veterans willing to embrace advanced technology and well-educated young people with new ideas and farming skills.

Having transitioned from urban to rural entrepreneurship in 2012, Wang honed his aquaculture skills through trial and error, eventually establishing a successful breeding model. He mentors fellow farmers, interprets agricultural policies, and provides internships for university students.

Recognizing youth to be the backbone of rural vitalization, he advocates for strengthened school-community collaborations to nurture agricultural talents.

Wang's innovative "aquatic product-plant" symbiotic model — raising loaches, turtles, and crayfish in paddy fields and lotus ponds — has boosted yields and income for over 150 households. The products have reached urban markets through his branding efforts.

To enhance agricultural sales, he calls for improved logistics networks and accelerated rural e-commerce development.

Wang secured patents for aquaculture equipment, transforming his farm into a modern ecological farm. Last year, his proposals for accelerating the cultivation of young rural makers garnered provincial support. The government made modern agricultural entrepreneurship parks to reduce startup costs for "new farmers".

This year, he submitted proposals on promoting the high-quality development of the agricultural machinery and equipment industry, expecting increased support in technology, land, finance, and talent to propel the Green Rural Revival Program in the new era.
