The DJ5879 high-speed train departed from Jinhuanan Railway Station in Zhejiang province for Nanchangxi Railway Station in Jiangxi province at 6:27 am on Jan 10. It marked the start of the first regularly scheduled high-speed express service in the Yangtze River Delta region.
Loaded with five metric tons of Jinhua's renowned agricultural products like Liangtouwu pork and fingered citrons, as well as smart door locks and high-end textiles, the train is set to reach Nanchang in under two hours.
Jinhua, a prominent manufacturing hub and a leading city for express delivery, has long boasted a thriving market for high-quality goods. It produces sought-after fresh agricultural products like waxberries, loquats, and grapes, which need efficient cold chain transport due to high market demand.
Previously, transporting these premium goods to Nanchang required a lengthy six-hour journey by road. The high-speed express service optimizes rail resources, catering to time-sensitive goods like fresh produce, urgent business items, and electronics.
This mode of transport ensures heightened safety, round-the-clock service, and eco-friendliness, effectively reducing logistics and time costs for medium to long-haul shipments.
The train from Jinhuanan to Nanchangxi is 60 percent faster than road transport. After the launch, annual shipments of Jinhua goods to Nanchang are projected to surpass 10 million items.
This milestone service will not only enhance connectivity between Zhejiang and other strategic regions but also position Jinhua as a trailblazer in integrated freight solutions, combining the China-Europe freight train, sea-rail combined transport, and high-speed express freight into a unified system.
