With the Chinese New Year just under two months away, the demand for festive products is soaring. Yiwu recently reported a continuous increase in sales of various festive products.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization inscribed "Spring Festival, social practices of the Chinese people in celebration of the traditional new year" on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity on Dec 4, helping to enrich the festive atmosphere for Chinese communities globally.

Every day a large quantity of New Year products leave Yiwu for Chinese families around the world. Roughly 80 percent of New Year paintings and couplets in China come from the Yiwu market.

This year, door stickers, couplets, and hanging ornaments featuring cartoon snakes are all the rage. Several stores have introduced traditional woodblock New Year paintings, embodying China's rich historical and cultural heritage.

Sales of festive products experience several peaks annually, with the release of new items at the end of October, restocking in early December, and a surge in online sales before the New Year. Notably, products featuring the God of Wealth have gained popularity in recent years, signaling a shift from products featuring traditional blessings.

For Chinese communities worldwide, buying festive goods is a New Year tradition, with Yiwu playing a pivotal role in spreading festive cheer through various products.
