The 5th "International Maker" Entrepreneurship and Innovation Competition in Zhejiang Province concluded in Yiwu, a county-level city in Jinhua, on Dec 6. Salihi Narges from Afghanistan and her team clinched the gold prize for their project "International Promotion of Zhu Danxi Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture".
Zhu Danxi, an important medical scientist from Yiwu during the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368), is honored as a "master of medical science" for his contributions to traditional Chinese medicine. Zhu Danxi Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture has been recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage item.
The team, focusing on the perspective of international students, utilized overseas social media platforms to promote Zhu Danxi Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture globally. Their efforts not only highlighted the therapeutic benefits of traditional Chinese medicine but also facilitated cultural exchange and integration, breathing new life into this ancient tradition.
With over 40 members and a fan base exceeding one million on overseas social media platforms, their impact is substantial.
The competition attracted 320 projects from 74 countries and regions, involving a diverse array of fields like emerging technologies, Internet economy, and cross-border e-commerce, showcasing the creativity and passion of international makers.
To support participants in realizing their entrepreneurial dreams, the competition appointed a team of 10 experts, scholars, and entrepreneurs to guide and support the implementation of the winning projects in Yiwu.
Since 2019, the competition has attracted nearly a thousand entrepreneurial teams over five editions. Entrepreneurship mentor Lou Zhongping emphasized Yiwu's international appeal and its role in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship on a global scale.
