Established in the Tang Dynasty (618-907), the ancient city boasts many ancient buildings and historical relics like the Shuxi bridge, Hushan Academy, and City God Temple, which have witnessed the region's ups and downs over the centuries.
In 2012, Wuyi county initiated the construction of the ancient city, aiming to inject fresh vitality into the cultural tourism industry while protecting historical buildings and preserving the local culture.
