With the global release and popularity of China's first Triple-A game, Black Myth: Wukong, it is surprising to find that a tower in the game is an almost exact replica of the Longde Temple Tower in Pujiang county in Jinhua, Zhejiang province.
The story of the game is based on the Chinese classic novel Journey to the West. In the game, players step into the shoes of a character similar to the iconic Sun Wukong, also known as the Monkey King, to start their epic adventures westward. The game is highlighted by its numerous vivid representations of Chinese traditional architecture.
Notably, all the ancient buildings in the game were meticulously represented by the development team after extensive on-site research across various locations in China, which imbues the game featuring Chinese traditional culture with a strong sense of national vitality.
The Longde Temple Tower, constructed in 1016 during the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127), is situated on Longfeng Mountain in the east of Pujiang county. This brick-and-wood pagoda is a beautiful and intricately crafted structure. Standing 36 meters tall, the tower is seven stories high with six sides, forming a hexagonal shape.
Since its construction, the tower has become a landmark of Pujiang. Many renowned scholars and poets left behind poems and writings praising the tower.
