A team from the Zhejiang Wuju Opera Art Research Institute (Zhejiang Wuju Opera Troupe) in Jinhua, Zhejiang province, set off for Brazil on Aug 13 to participate in performances celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Brazil.
Wuju Opera is a type of opera local to Jinhua and its neighboring areas in Zhejiang. It was named after Wuzhou, which is what Jinhua was known as in ancient times.
This is the second time that the Zhejiang Wuju Opera Troupe has been invited to perform in Brazil. It will perform in three cities — Brasilia, Sao Paulo, and Campinas.
The troupe will bring classic Wuju Opera plays and musical performances to Brazil, building a bridge for mutual learning and cultural exchange and celebrating the 50th anniversary of China-Brazil diplomatic relations with the local people.
