At the Yiwu Bonded Logistics Center, carbon black recently arrived on the Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe China-Europe freight train, which was promptly transferred to new containers and loaded onto trucks.
According to the shipping plan, 20 full containers of carbon black will be transported by road to Ningbo Zhoushan Port, from where they will be shipped to Thailand for use in tire production.
This process exemplifies how Yiwu is fully leveraging the advantages of the China-Europe freight train and the Bonded Logistics Center to provide efficient bonded warehousing and international logistics support for customers in the Yangtze River Delta region.
The freight train offers significantly faster transit times than sea freight and is more cost-effective than air freight, noted a representative of Yiwu Heguang Import and Export Co.
The representative added that in 2023, Heguang exported a total of 120 containers of carbon black using the model, which has helped Yiwu to establish itself as a world commodity hub.
The Bonded Logistics Center functions as a global transit hub, offering customers a convenient transshipment channel. For instance, goods imported via the freight train enter the Bonded Logistics Center and are then re-exported through sea-rail intermodal transport or road transport to countries such as Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand.
From January to April, the freight train dispatched a total of 54,000 twenty-foot equivalent units, marking a year-on-year increase of 1.9 percent. The Bonded Logistics Center imported a total of 1,038 TEUs via the freight train, achieving a year-on-year growth of 17 percent.
