Containers carrying "Made in China" products on May 5 were loaded onto a sea-rail intermodal train at the Jinhuanan Railway Station bound for Ningbo Zhoushan Port on their way to Europe.

This is a common scene in Jinhua's sea-rail intermodal transport system, which was launched in 2012. It consists of three major sea-rail intermodal transport routes from Jindong, Yiwu, and Yongkang.

Last year, Jinhua's imports and exports through Ningbo Zhoushan Port exceeded 1.8 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), with sea-rail intermodal transport accounting for over 300,000 TEUs.

This strong performance can be largely attributed to a series of measures implemented by authorities, including applying customs supervision models such as port of departure tax refunds and direct loading at port of arrival.

In the first quarter of this year, the city's sea-rail intermodal train handled 81,200 TEUs, a year-on-year increase of approximately 15.2 percent. The train is expected to transport more than 350,000 TEUs this year.

Concerted efforts are also underway to optimize intermodal transport channels, enhance digital empowerment and information sharing, fortify multimodal transportation operation models and entity development, and expedite the establishment of a cutting-edge logistics system.
