The China-Tanzania Investment Forum, also known as the China (Jinhua)-Tanzania Trade and Investment Promotion Conference, was held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania on March 27.
More than 400 government officials, enterprises, and representatives from business associations from both China and Tanzania engaged in in-depth discussions on deepening Sino-African economic and trade cooperation during the event.
Philip Isdor Mpango, vice-President of Tanzania, noted during the conference that this year marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Tanzania and China, and the profound friendship between the two countries provides a solid foundation for deepening economic and trade cooperation.
Mpango added that Tanzania will sustain efforts to optimize business environments, deepen economic ties with China, and provide more mutually beneficial investment and trade opportunities for both countries, thereby expanding the scale of investment and trade between Tanzania and China.
Chen Mingjian, the Chinese Ambassador to Tanzania, underscored China's longstanding position as Tanzania's largest trading partner and source of investment, highlighting Jinhua's significant contributions to fostering exchanges and cooperation between China and Tanzania.
Zhu Chonglie, Party secretary of Jinhua, proclaimed that Jinhua will continue efforts to strengthen cooperation with Tanzania in fields of industries, tourism, trade, and cultural exchanges.
The Jinhua delegation engaged in face-to-face discussions with over 260 representatives from local enterprises and institutions, during which representatives from more than 10 Tanzanian government departments addressed queries.
During the event, projects related to agricultural machinery cooperation, the establishment of a barter trade platform, and one-stop procurement for hardware tools, amounting to a combined investment of $65 million, were also secured. Additionally, the Merit Link East Africa Service Center (Tanzania) was unveiled.
The delegation also visited Tanzania's largest national industrial park, the China-Tanzania Industrial Park, as well as several specialized markets to gain a comprehensive understanding of the local business environment, investment policies, and consumer demands.
