Jinhua in Zhejiang province held a promotion event for its biomedicine and implantable medical device industries in Shanghai on March 21.
Representatives from over 40 leading companies in the biomedical and pharmaceutical industry, investment institutions, industrial parks and platforms, and research institutes attended the event and shared their insights into the relevant industrial trends.
Wang Shuxin, Party secretary of the School of Pharmacy at Fudan University, and Xu Kai, a professor with the School of Mechanical Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, were appointed as counselors.
Five projects related to fields such as research and development of cell therapy technology and intelligent medical equipment and information systems were secured during the event.
Jinhua has in recent years been focusing on bolstering its biomedicine industry by strengthening top-level planning and enhancing policy support. The total industrial output value of the city's large-scale pharmaceutical and chemical industry reached 21.34 billion yuan ($2.96 billion) in 2023, and Jinhua is currently home to 101 pharmaceutical and chemical enterprises above designated size, six of which are listed on the A-share market.
Authorities have also implemented a series of proactive measures to create a conducive environment for the biomedicine industry, including establishing industrial and innovation platforms such as the Jinhua Institute of Zhejiang University.
