Houchen village in Wuyi county, Jinhua, Zhejiang province has in recent years been ramping up efforts to improve residents' living environment.
The village has spent more than 5 million yuan ($695,086.36) upgrading public facilities, including an elderly care center, cultural square, sports field, and six garbage collection points.
Authorities have also introduced standards for yard layout, placement of furnishings, environmental cleanliness, greening, family traditions, and moral education, aiming to motivate locals to improve the appearance of their yards.
Moreover, the village has prioritized the implementation of an effective governance mechanism, notably through the establishment of a democratic consultation platform. This systems will include the collection of residents' opinions and suggestions on various village matters.
Residents who actively contribute to maintaining a clean and tidy living environment will be rewarded with the opportunity to exchange their efforts for household necessities such as laundry detergent, rice, cooking oil, and other essential items.
The improved ecological environment has laid a robust foundation for the village's green economic output. Leveraging its ecological resources, the village has strategically developed cultural tourism and agritainment industries, ultimately leading to increased incomes for its residents.
