As the Lantern Festival draws near, Jinhua in Zhejiang province is gearing up to host a series of vibrant folk activities to create a festive atmosphere.
Here are a few of the most popular events.
Bullfighting
Originating during the Song Dynasty (960-1279), bullfighting is a provincial intangible cultural heritage. The intense and entertaining spectacle, rich with local flavor, will be staged in Wucheng district on Feb 24.
ICH fair
From Feb 3 to 25, visitors can immerse themselves in folk activities, temple fairs, performances, and ICH showcases such as sugar painting, bamboo weaving, and woodblock printing at the Poyang ancient street in Jindong district.
Temple Fair
The Temple Fair, also known as the Tea Trade Gathering, was recognized as a national ICH in 2008. During this event, tea farmers dress in traditional attire to pay homage to the "Tea God", seeking a prosperous tea harvest.
The fair also features folk activities like hanging lanterns and vibrant dragon dances. The celebration will take place from Feb 23 to 25 in Pan'an county.
