Eight common prosperity workshops in Jinhua, Zhejiang province have been given provincial demonstration designation, the People's Government of Zhejiang Province announced on Dec 10.
The workshops have played a significant role in creating jobs for the surplus rural labor force as part of efforts to achieve common prosperity, according to authorities.
Harnessing local natural resources, the eight workshops have fostered diverse business models such as intangible cultural heritage exhibitions, homestays, study tours, camping, e-commerce, and handicraft making. This has led to the creation of jobs for nearly 2,000 rural residents, official statistics show.
Notably, five workshops have been established through cooperation with labor-intensive companies, employing 556 individuals receiving an average annual salary of 50,000 yuan ($6,996.13).
In December 2022, Zhejiang announced that it would further establish 10,000 common prosperity workshops within its 26 mountainous county-level areas over the next three years.
