Residents of Xinguang village in Pujiang county, Jinhua, Zhejiang province, were busy making and drying rice noodle wrappers in the sun on the village square on Nov 21.
Making rice noodle wrapper requires a series of processes. After soaking the rice for a week, it must be ground into rice milk with a stone mill. The rice milk must then be poured evenly into a bamboo basket and steamed in a pot.
Later, the steamed wrapper must be dried in the sun until it is half-dry, then it can be enjoyed with pickles and shredded meat and wrapped in tofu.
Ye Mudan, a resident of Xinguang village, has been making rice noodle wrappers for over 10 years. She said that they can make an average of over 50 wrappers per hour and about 200 a day.
Xinguang is a national key village for rural tourism development and a national level beautiful and livable demonstration village.
In recent years, with a new business model combining tourism, internet, agriculture and makers, Xinguang sells its rice noodle wrappers online and at physical locations, increasing incomes for villagers.
