Jinhua Mayor Xing Zhihong met with a delegation from Solomon Islands on Oct 24, according to local media reports.
Xing outlined Jinhua's economic and social development during the meeting, noting that Jinhua has deeply integrated into the Belt and Road Initiative initiated 10 years ago, and its economic and trade cooperation with Solomon Islands is growing stronger, with tremendous potential for mutual development.
Xing expressed hope that this event will serve as an opportunity to further promote pragmatic cooperation in the fields of household daily necessities, clothing and textiles, hardware tools, and agricultural product processing, as well as strengthen in-depth exchanges in culture, tourism, and education.
Loren Saleiso, Minister of Institutional Affairs of Solomon Islands, Provincial Government, said that the pleasant climate, beautiful scenery, and friendly people in Jinhua have made everyone feel rejuvenated. The city's high-quality education, developed market system, and diverse range of products have also left a deep impression on everyone.
Saleiso believed that this visit will greatly promote in-depth exchanges between the two places in commerce, education, healthcare, culture, and other aspects, and jointly open a new chapter of comprehensive and deepened cooperation.
Jinhua's exports to Solomon Islands in 2022 increased by nearly 90 percent year-on-year, accounting for one fifteenth of the national total, while exports to Solomon Islands from January to September of this year registered an uptick of 85.4 percent year-on-year.
