The Zhejiang Wuju Opera Troupe from Jinhua, East China's Zhejiang province, staged a performance in Ethiopia to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Organization of African Unity on Sept 8.
More than 500 leaders from all African countries and their family members attended the event.
A representative from the Chinese Embassy to the African Union noted at the ceremony that the cultural and art exchange will play a significant role in enhancing the friendship between Chinese and African peoples.
Exhibits showcasing the opera's history, including costumes, head ware and folding fans, were also displayed during the event.
The troupe also staged another performance at the National Grand Theater on Sept 9, which more than 1,000 people watched.
The troupe will set out for countries such as Eritrea, South Africa and Tanzania to carry out cultural exchanges.
