The Zhejiang Wuju Opera Troupe from Jinhua, East China's Zhejiang province, will stage performances in African countries including Kenya, Ethiopia, and Eritrea from Sept 4 to 14, local media reported on Sept 3.
The troupe was commissioned by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Kenya, the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Eritrea, and the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Organization of African Unity, in an effort to advance cultural exchanges with African countries.
The troupe has performed in 49 countries and regions and has been playing a key role in promoting traditional Chinese culture to the world.
