An exhibition featuring over 100 antique cameras from Lanxi, a county-level city in Jinhua, East China's Zhejiang province, is currently on display at the Zhejiang Natural Museum in Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province.
The exhibition showcases a total of 102 antique cameras and more than 100 pieces of camera-related information. It traces the evolution of photographic cameras through three major developmental stages, highlighting changes in photosensitive materials, camera body materials, mechanical innovations, and the stories behind the photographs taken with these cameras.
It is worth noting that all the cameras featured in the exhibition are part of the collection of the Polaroid Camera Museum in Lanxi's Youbu town.
The museum's collection, founded by overseas Chinese collector Bu Zongyuan, comprises over 1,000 antique cameras from all over the world. It has also been included in the list of the "First Batch of Rural Museums in Zhejiang Province in 2023."
In recent years, Lanxi has been promoting the cultural legacy of world-renowned photographer Lang Jingshan, who was a native of Youbu town. The city has made significant progress in the establishment of the antique camera museum and the photography community, as well as the enhancement of facilities at the Lang Jingshan Memorial Hall.
These efforts have attracted famous photographers and enthusiasts to Youbu town, making it a renowned hub for art photography and folk cultural arts in Zhejiang Province.
