Lotus flowers in Sanlian village in Yongkang, a county-level city in Jinhua, East China's Zhejiang province, are now in bloom, attracting flocks of tourists.
The village spent more than 400,000 yuan ($55,262.31) building a 200-mu (13.33 hectares) lotus pond in 2021 and then built a corridor through the pond, where tourists can admire the lotus flowers as they walk around and relax.
The pond is part of efforts by Sanlian village to develop its rural tourism in recent years. The village has been tapping into its natural resources to advance the in-depth integration of agriculture and tourism, and accelerating the construction of supporting facilities such as homestays and agritainment.
When the lotus flowers fade, people can pick the lotus seedpods, which is an important income source of residents, said a local official.
