Jinhua in East China's Zhejiang province held a series of intangible cultural heritage activities to welcome the upcoming Hangzhou Asian Games on June 10.

The event was aimed at promoting the creative transformation and innovative development of intangible cultural heritage through various means, such as exhibitions, performances, lectures, and sales.

The highlight of the event was an ICH storytelling competition, which attracted over 3 million participants online since its inception in 2020. Sixteen representatives from the city's ICH teaching bases took the stage to showcase the beauty of Jinhua and the charm of intangible cultural heritage.

In addition to the competition, art performances and an ICH shopping festival were featured, aiming to promote the recovery of cultural tourism.

Jinhua is currently home to 36 national-level representative projects, 26 national-level representative inheritors, 131 provincial-level representative projects and 175 provincial-level representative inheritors.

Jinhua will host the soccer and sepak takraw competitions during the upcoming Asian Games. Six intangible cultural heritage items, including Jinhua paper-cutting, bamboo and wood carving, cross-stitching, and dough figurines, as well as interactive experiences will be on offer. These cultural displays will complement the sporting events and add to the overall charm of the Asian Games.
