Tantou village in Jinhua, East China's Zhejiang province, was the only winner of the Global Human Settlement Model for Villages Award at the recently held 17th Annual Session of the Global Forum on Human Settlements and Sustainable Cities and Human Settlements Award Ceremony.
Founded and issued by the Global Forum on Human Settlements, the award is supported and guided by global organizations such as the United Nations Environment Program and is one of the most important sustainable development awards in the world.

Tantou village is located in Lyutan town, Wuyi county, Jinhua. The 100-hectare village is home to 220 households with 527 people. The village, with a history of 750 years, has a total of 14 cultural protection registration sites. In 2019, it was included in the eighth batch of provincial key villages for the protection and utilization of historical and cultural villages in Zhejiang.
According to the review committee, Tantou village has a long history, scientific layout, beautiful environment, superb architectural art, profound cultural heritage, intact social ecology, complete basic infrastructure, and active industrial development. In addition to its booming green economy, the village has shown outstanding performance in environmental protection and ecology, represented by its wetland and aquatic environments. It qualifies as a model global human settlement village, leading the revitalization of villages at home and abroad.
